Wasps do not seek out and sting humans arbitrarily – they are merely “following their noses”. This means wasps are attracted by strong odors in general, including human sweat. They are also drawn to bright colors. Entry points into the house, such as torn screens, open vents, holes in walls, and the like should be sealed. Leftover picnic food should be disposed of properly because they don’t just attract bears and raccoons. Setting a trap Another natural way to deter wasps is by trapping them using custom or commercial traps filled with either water or sweet-smelling liquid such as lemonade. Once trapped, the insects will tire out and drown in the liquid.
